This weeks Woman of the Week is Kay Green of
My Precious Kid
We had the pleasure of interviewing Kay. You can read the Interview below.
TBA: For anyone who doesn't know, whats your name?
Kay: KAY GREEN
TBA: Kay are you married and do you have kids?
Kay: Married 25 years to my high school sweetheart. We have 4 kids thru birth and
adoption. Melissa 21 (married to Matthew), son Jordan 18 (in college).
Allison 16 (high school senior), Haley 4
TBA: Kay please tell us about you, the woman behind the business.
Kay: I am 44 years old and live in rural Oregon. I grew up with parents who run a
business in their home - Collins Security in Springfield Oregon - so it
seemed like a natural thing.
I have been a stay at home, work at home, homeschool mom since 1982. I made
soft sculpture dolls and doll clothes after the birth of my first child in
1982. I sold Discovery Toys after the birth of my 2nd child in 1985. I ran a
floral design business at home after the birth of my 3rd child in 1987. I
adopted my 4th child in 2000. I started My Precious Kid - Family Safety ID
Products in May 2001.
TBA: Sounds like you have a wonderful family there Kay, lets switch gears here and talk about your business, tell us whats the name of your business and the site URL?
Kay:
I have several businesses, which included, My Precious Kid http://www.MyPreciousKid.com
123 Home Business Guide http://123HomeBusinessGuide.com
PreciousKids Adoption & Homeschool http://PreciousKids.org
TBA: What made you decide to start your company?
Kay: I needed ID cards for homeschool kids. I needed an ID card for Haley my 4th
child adopted and no birth certificate for 10 months). My teenage son helped
me create the first templates for cards. I created personalized ID cards for
other homeschool and adopting families.
Then I created "do it yourself" fingerprint ID kits for parents. That has
grown into a line of 23 products for families: ID cards, Fingerprint/DNA
Kits, First Aid Kits, Car Seat Pillows, ID Scopes, ID Bracelets, Shoe
Stickers, Travel Toes, Sports Safety Packs, Chore Charts, Adult ID Kits and
pet ID Kits.
TBA:
Did you have a goal when you first started out that you have now totally
surpassed?
Kay: I could have never imagined recruiting 400 reps. The rep program has far
exceeded my goals. The sale reps buy wholesale through me and sell retail in
their communities keeping up to 50% of the sales as profit. I have built an
online training and support system for the reps. They can download and print
all of their own sales materials and catalogs for free.
TBA: What advice would you give other women?
Kay: Find what you are passionate about and do that to the best of your ability
for the long haul and success will follow.
As you can see by reading the interview above Kay has earned the Woman of the Week
